Organised annually by Agape Group Holdings’ Character & Leadership Academy, the 8th Global Youth Leadership Summit will be held on 18 July 2016, in conjunction with the National Youth Council’s Youth Month and on Mandela Day, a day symbolising international racial harmony. The Summit’s Guests of Honour are Mr Lim Biow Chuan, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Mr Melvin Yong, Member of Parliament.
To the theme of ‘Y-Celebrate! Share & Serve, Lead & Learn’, this year’s Summit takes on a new spin with a unique location at the newly opened SingaporeBowling premise in Temasek Club at Rifle Range plus a host of creative activities and programmes. Five hundred youth leaders from ASEAN countries will participate in the Summit in their ethnic costumes, towards the common aim of sharing, leading and inspiring fellow youth leaders with their stories and journeys.
The full-day programme will have four keynote speakers and nine student speakers touch on their real-life passions, inspirations and thoughts on living in harmony. Other highlights include a community bowling segment with Paralympic bowlers, diplomats and youth leaders engaging in friendly games, an attempt to set the Singapore Record for ‘The Largest Jumpshot’ as well as a movie screening of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’, on the anti-apartheid South African revolutionist’s birthday.
Mr Delane Lim, Executive Director, Character & Leadership Academy, said, “Compared to previous years, this year’s Summit is truly unique in both intent and content. Held for the first time at SingaporeBowling, we break out of the boundaries and aspire to connect and inspire ASEAN youth leaders through invigorating, youth-oriented activities.”

Character and Leadership Academy
Character and Leadership Academy (CLA) is a social development enterprise that seeks to engage, empower and equip youths of today, both local and international, with essential personal development and leadership skills, alongside appropriate character traits for an ever-changing world of tomorrow. Set up by Agape Group Holdings, CLA was founded based on the belief that Personal Values and Character are the key foundations and life-smith of every youth leader, where in the absence of either would not allow them to effectively lead with pride and integrity. The Academy was launched by Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Education, Mr. Lim Biow Chuan on 2nd February 2013.
